Grow Together. Make Gardening a Family Affair on June 15 & 16
LEWISTON, NY - With sunshine and warmer temperatures on the horizon, the Lewiston Garden Club is in the midst of planning for Lewiston GardenFest. Set for Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16, organizers are now recruiting both vendors and local residents interested in showcasing their own gardens during this year's 14th annual event.
"Each and every year the Lewiston Garden Club comes together to share our love of gardening with the entire community, offering fresh ideas, interesting speakers, new and returning vendors, and more to help you beautify your outdoor space," said Sharon Low, co-chair and vendor chair, Lewiston GardenFest. "This year we want to make gardening a family affair with offerings throughout festival weekend that appeal to gardeners and future gardeners of all ages."
Businesses and vendors who sell items related to gardening, horticulture and the outdoors, including nurseries, landscapers, garden artists, builders, and others are encouraged to apply. Vendor applications are due by May 1 and can be downloaded at lewistongardenfest.com. The application fee varies from $125 - $225 based on the size of the vendor display.
Village and Town of Lewiston residents who are interested in showcasing their own gardens, are encouraged to be part of Lewiston GardenFest's open gardens. Festival attendees can view the participating gardens only when the "Open Garden" signs are in place between 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. during the event weekend. For more information or to download an application, visit lewistongardenfest.com. The deadline to apply for open gardens is May 14.
Located along Center St., Lewiston GardenFest is free to attend and also includes speakers demonstrating new and different techniques to enhance one's gardens and master gardeners on hand to answer questions throughout the weekend. In addition to free open gardens, attendees can also participate in a container garden contest for prizes. All proceeds from Lewiston GardenFest go back into the soil of the local community for civic beautification efforts and scholarships. For more information, visit lewistongardenfest.com.
