December 2 & 3, 2017

 

Santa Claus Arrival

Welcome Santa as he makes his grand entrance into the Village on Saturday, December 2nd, 11:30 am at Academy Park by Helicopter (weather permitting) provided by Rainbow Air, Inc.   Join us as Santa and characters will be escorted by carriage and a beautiful Holiday Float by J.J. Strassburg Trucking in a special Santa Promenade down Center Street!  

 

Meet Santa

Santa will greet children in the Lewiston Peace Garden near the Historic Frontier House in his special Holiday float following the Santa Promenade down Center St.  Meet Santa on Saturday, December 2nd from noon - 1:30 and 2- 4 pm in the Lewiston International Peace Garden throughout the Christmas Walk!  He will also be there on Sunday, December 3rd from 1-1:55pm and the following locations and times throughout the Village:
Sunday: 2 - 2:25pm Water Street Landing (115 S. Water St), 2:30 - 2:55 Apple Granny Restaurant (433 Center St), 3 - 3:25pm Antique to Chic (536 Center St) and 3:30 - 3:55pm Cask & Cow (840 Center St).

Stop by the Deal Realty booth to pick up Santa's Magic Dust and complimentary giveaways. Don't forget your camera for photo opportunities with Santa and Buddy too!

Character Meet and Greets

Enjoy familiar Christmas favorites Frosty, Olaf, Buddy The Elf and Rudolph as they promenade up and down Center Street on Saturday and Sunday from 11am - 3pm, sponsored by the Lewiston Kiwanis Club and Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce.  

 

Center Street is full of holiday spirit!  The shops will be open both Saturday and Sunday during the Christmas Walk and many will offer special treats, promotions and great shopping sales!  Check your favorite businesses for store hours.


Complimentary carriage rides sponsored by Super Market Liquors & Wines, on Saturday from 11:30am - 4pm and Sunday from noon - 3pm.  Drop off and Pick up in front of Northwest Bank, 500 Center Street.

 

Hennepin Park

The lighting of the Village of Lewiston Holiday Tree will take place on Friday, December 1st at 7pm.  A tradition including entertainment!

 

Be sure to visit Hennepin Park with special characters Rudolph and Bumble! Stop by the Petting Zoo from Shenandoah Acres, sponsored by Tedesco Construction Services, Inc. on Saturday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 3rd from Noon - 3pm. Saturday will feature a Special Balloon Artist from 12:30 - 4:30 sponsored by Great Lakes Real Estate and It's So Fluffy Cotton Candy spinning fresh cotton candy from

 noon - 4pm with prices ranging from $2 - $4.

 

 

Send your Letter to Santa

Get your letters written and delivered to Santa, right here in Lewiston!  The red regulation sized mailbox on Center St. will deliver your letter directly to the North Pole!  The mail box is sponsored by and can be found between You & Me Boutique (467 Center St) and The Spicey Pickle (463 Center St.). Any letters addressed to Santa that are placed in the box by December 18th will receive a response before Christmas!  This is not a U.S. Postal Service mail box.  Letters will go to the North Pole only!

 

 

Niagara River Region Gift Certificates

Looking for the perfect gift to give this holiday season?  Give the gift of "local" this year with a Niagara River Region Gift Certificate.  Purchase a gift certificate in any amount and redeem it at over forty businesses! Each gift certificate comes in a personalized envelope accompanied by a listing of businesses where they can redeem the certificate.   A complete list of participants is available online at www.NiagaraRiverRegion.com.  Gift certificates are available at the Chamber Office (895 Center Street) or online.

 

Academy Park

The Lewiston Family Ice Rink will be open with special $3.00 Admission pricing for the weekend.  Skate Rentals are $5.00.  Hot Chocolate and Coffee will be available for $2.00

The Boy Scout Troop 855 will host their Christmas Tree Sale in Academy Park.  Stop by and pick out the perfect tree! Starting on November 30th, trees will available Monday-Thursday from 4pm-8pm, Friday from 4pm-9pm, Saturday from 9am-9pm, and Sunday 9am-6:30pm. 

 

Weekend Activities

Antique To Chic - 536 Center Street, Lewiston, NY. Antique to Chic will celebrate the Christmas Walk with extended hours, a free drawing for 2 gift baskets, treats including homemade cookies, and special bargains.  In addition one of Santa's elves will be present to help our smaller shoppers find gifts for their Mom or Dad.

Apple Granny Restaurant
- 433 Center Street, Lewiston, NY. Story Time Readings of The Elf on the Shelf every half hour with free hot chocolate for the kids!  Meet the Elf on the Shelf and hear the story children love this time of the year on Saturday from 12-4pm and Sunday from 12 - 3pm.


Brewed & Bottled - 402 Center Street, Lewiston, NY. Founders Brewing Co. Canadian Breakfast Stout Bottle release & tapping, and BlackBird Cider Works Christmas Cider 2017 Tapping.  Complimentary snacks and treats in the shop during the festival.


Canterbury Place
- 547 Center Street, Lewiston.  Tasting from Stonewall Kitchen, Saturday December 2nd and Sunday December 3rd from 10am - 5pm.  Free gift with purchase both days.  Join us for holiday refreshments.

First Presbyterian Church - 505 Cayuga Street, Lewiston, NY. First Presbyterian Church Lewiston, established in 1817 is celebrating its 200th year of ministering to Lewiston and its surrounding area.  We invite all to come and join us in our celebration as we participate in the Christmas Walk and Tour of Homes and Worship Services. Our Old Stone Church will be decorated in the 1800's period.  Saturday 12/2 at 4pm we encourage all to come and enjoy a Christmas Concert by the Lock City Glee Club (named for the lifting locks on the Erie Canal.)  (A free will offering will be taken). Sunday, 12/3 worship will be held starting at 11:15am and is led by Rev. Elizabeth Morgan.

 

Howard Hanna Real Estate - 505 Center Street, Lewiston, NY. 12 noon - 4pm.  Our office doors will be open both Saturday and Sunday with light refreshments as well as Artisan tables selling their crafts and artwork on both days!  Tickets will be available for a chance to win baskets with proceeds to benefit WNY Heroes, Inc.

 

Lewiston Fire Co. #1 - Fire hall at 145 N. 6th Street, Lewiston NY. Stop by and buy some delicious chicken chowder starting at noon on Saturday until sold out!  Eat in or take out.

Lewiston Museum - 469 Plain Street, Lewiston NY. Explore the Lewiston Museum, which will be adorned for the season with a splendidly decorated Christmas tree, greens and candle light throughout.  Be sure to take in the exhibits on local history and get up close and personal with artifacts from Lewiston's past.  The museum store will be open and offering locally themed books, ornaments, toys and Lewiston treasures.  Special hand-painted ornaments of historic Lewiston buildings will be available for purchase.  Get all six hand painted treasures for only $100!

 

Lewiston Tour of Homes - The 13th Annual Lewiston Tour of Homes benefit the Historical Association of Lewiston.  Tickets are on sale! Celebrate in style and see the latest holiday inspired décor.  Each home will feature Christmas tablescapes, offering innovative entertaining ideas.  A dessert sampling and cocktail reception is included in your ticket price at the Niagara Crossing Hotel from 10am - 5pm each day featuring holiday pastries from local favorites DiCamillo Baker and the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.  Everyone will also receive a Poinsettia Cocktail compliments of Wegmans and Freedom Run Winery!

Lewiston Village Pediatrics
- 733 Center Street, Lewiston, NY. Please join the families of Lewiston Village Pediatrics on Saturday and Sunday for cookies, cocoa, and a free Christmas craft.  Our snow globe ornament activity is most appropriate for ages 4 and older.  Treats and crafts are available on both days between 12:30pm and 4pm at our office, 733 Center Street in the Rite Aid Plaza.   For additional information, please call Lewiston Village Pediatrics at 754-7337.

 

The Lewiston Stone House - 755 Center Street, Lewiston, NY.   The Lewiston Stone House will be open both Saturday and Sunday during the Christmas Walk.  We are happy to be part of the 13th Annual Tour of Homes and will be featured as a promotional stop with warm mulled wine sampling for ticket holders.   The Stone House has invited Kelly's Country Store to our outdoor heated patio with all of their chocolate holiday goodies available for purchase.  Kelly's will set up a remote location for purchase of homemade chocolate, fudge and jar candy with all your favorites.   Our down stairs bar will be open with warm mulled wine, spiked coffee, cocoa and other holiday cocktails.  The patio grill will also be open and serving lunch with flatbread.

 

Orange Cat Coffee Company - 703 Center Street, Lewiston, NY. Take a selfie "mug shot" in the giant coffee mug made by Brett Coppins and donated by Coppins Service Center.  Stop by and take a selfie! #occoffeemugshots

Spiritually Rooted - 402 Center Street, Lewiston, NY.  $20 mini readings both Saturday and Sunday during the Christmas Walk!  There will also be free hot apple cider with our own secret recipe!

St. Paul's Episcopal Church - Corners of N. 4th & Ridge Streets.  One stop shopping at St. Paul's Episcopal Church hosts a craft & vendor show and basket auction, Saturday December 2nd and Sunday December 3rd from 10am to 5pm.

Over 25 crafters and vendors selling everything from home décor, fashion & beauty, spices & soups packets, stocking stuffers, soy candles & more.  Coffee, tea, hot chocolate & various desserts and pastries will be sold as well.  Building is handicapped accessible and restrooms are available for the Christmas Walk.

 

Theatre in the Mist - It's a Wonderful Life - a Live Radio Play will be at the Stella Niagara Stage from November 24 - December 3rd.  Friday/Saturday 7:30pm and Sunday 2:30pm.  $16 Adults, $14 Students/Seniors and $12 for Children 12 and under.  www.theatreinthemist.org     Performers from Theatre in the Mist will be caroling throughout the Village during the Christmas Walk!

Water Street Landing - 115 S. Water Street, Lewiston, NY.   Saturday December 2nd, Story time will be at 2pm and 4pm.

Come in to get a warm drink and meet one of Santa's Elves all day long.  A surprise for every child.

There will also be a Street Hockey/Ball Hockey shooting contest outside Saturday from 12-5pm with prizes.

On Sunday December 3rd there will be a special Brunch menu from 11am -2pm for $10.99.  Warm drinks will be served all day.  Meet Santa's Elves from 11am-4pm.  Bills vs Patriots game will be on at 1pm.

 

 

Saturday, December 2nd Activities

Great Lakes Real Estate - From 10:30 to 11:30 at Academy Park Great Lakes Real Estate will be handing out Rudolph Antler Hats and Noses before Santa's arrival, then along Center Street until supplies run out.  Join the Balloon Artist at Hennepin Park as she dazzles children with her balloon creations free of charge from 12:30 - 4:30.

 

Habitat for Humanity - St. Peter's School, 140 N. 6th Street, Lewiston, NY.  Stop by St. Peter's School on Saturday from 10am - 4pm for a make and take gingerbread house!  $5 per house. All proceeds go to benefit Niagara Habitat for Humanity.

 

Howard Hanna Real Estate- 505 Center Street, Lewiston, NY.  Bring the kids (of all ages) on Saturday from noon - 2pm for FREE caricatures with Sal Anello, face painting and don't forget your camera to get a picture with Frosty himself!

 

It's So Fluffy Cotton Candy - We will be spinning fresh Gourmet Cotton Candy in Hennepin Park on Saturday December 2nd.  Come try our Holiday Flavors....Candy Cane, Egg Nog, Sugar Cookie and Gingerbread to name a few! Lewiston Choraleers - St. Peter's R.C. Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY.   The Lewiston Choraleers will be singing their Christmas Program on Saturday, December 2nd at 1pm.  The family-friendly program, entitled "Celebrate the Season," will feature an eclectic mix of traditional, contemporary, ethnic, and international holiday music.  The 50 member community chorus will be directed and accompanied by Donald D. Shrimpton and percussionist Pat Kuciewski.

All performances are open to the public, with a general admission of $5 (children 12 and under admitted free).

Teal's Niagara Theatre & Music Academy - Hennepin Park, Lewiston, NY. Stop by Hennepin Park on Saturday from 2pm - 3pm as the students perform selections from their December 15th/16th production of Elf Jr. The Musical.  Students will also sing Christmas Songs (solos, duets, etc). Village of Lewiston Recreation Dept. - 145 N. 4th St. (Red Brick Building).  On December 2nd at 10 am Breakfast with Santa - Bring your children to enjoy breakfast with the "man in the red suit."  Children will get to share their Christmas list with Santa.  The donation for the breakfast is $5.00 per child.  Coffee and tea will be available for the parents.  Seating is limited.  Call 754-1990 for more information.

Also at the Red Brick building on Saturday December 2nd from 1-3pm - Holiday Arts & Crafts- As part of the Christmas Walk activities, children are encouraged to attend the Holiday Arts and Crafts to paint ornaments, make gifts, make a holiday decoration or just have fun creating things.  Children over 4 can visit anytime during this period.   Since paint is used for some of the crafts, a smock or old t-shirt is suggested.  Preregistration is not necessary.  Bring a Box to Carry Your Treasures Home.  Free.

Chamber of Commerce Christmas Party -
Thursday, November 30th at Cask & Cow at 6pm. Call the Chamber to join us! 754-9500. Tickets are $25 and include buffet dinner.

Christmas at the Farm -
Sanborn Lewiston Farm Museum, 2660 Saunders Settlement Rd, Sanborn, NY. Meet and greet with Santa! Kids will frost a cookie and make a craft.  Christmas Basket auction as well!  December 9th and 10th from 11am - 4pm.  Lunch will be available for purchase at 11:30am.

First Presbyterian Church
- 505 Cayuga Street, Lewiston, NY. Christmas Eve service will be at 6pm in the Old Stone Church.  This will be a candle light service reminding us of the birth of Christ, the Light of the world, and also the many years the church has served our Lord.

 

Lewiston Choraleers - Sunday December 3rd at 2pm at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church Site, 2966 Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.

Saturday December 9th at 2pm at St. John de LaSalle Roman Catholic Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.

Sunday December 10 at 2pm at Messiah Lutheran Church, 915 Oneida Street, Lewiston, NY.

All performances are open to the public, with a general admission fee of $5 (children 12 and under admitted free).

Old Fort Niagara - Youngstown, NY. The Castle by Candlelight, December 9th and 16th from 6:30pm - 8:30pm.  Tours of the decorated French Castle and the firing of the feu de joie are sure to put you in the holiday spirit. Follow a guided tour of Old Fort Niagara's 1726 French Castle decorated for the season by the Youngstown Garden Club and lit entirely by candles. Meet historical characters and witness the firing of the grand feu de joie. This seasonal, historically-authentic experience will put you in the holiday spirit!  This is a fund raiser to benefit educational programming.

Tickets are $10/person. No advance tickets are needed; they will be available at the door. Children ages 5 and under are free.

 

Our Lady of Fatima Shrine Festival of Lights - 1023 Swann Road, Lewiston NY. The Fatima Shrine is lit up every night from November 18th through January 6th, 2018 from 5pm - 9pm with over 75 beautiful lighted displays and an illuminated Shrine.  The gift shop and cafeteria are also open.  This year is a special one for the Shrine marking the 100th anniversary of the reported sightings of Mary Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal.  For more information visit www.FatimaShrine.com or call (716) 754-7489.

Ransomville Festival of Wreaths - Sunday, November 26th. Free Activities and family fun from noon - 5pm.  Closing ceremony at Ransomville Baptist Church at 4:45pm with the Wilson High School Chorus (2589 Youngstown -Lockport Rd, Ransomville).

Santa will read The Night Before Christmas and take photos with children from 1pm - 3pm.  Visit the wonderful business district for shopping and more festivities!
