Lewiston Kiwanis increases Peach Queen Scholarshipby jpauly
The Niagara County Peach Queen Program is looking forward to September 13th when the 2015/16 Peach Queen will be crowned and will receive a generous $4,000 scholarship from the Kiwanis Club of Lewiston. The amount has nearly doubled from the scholarship amount that last year's recipient Christine Oliveri from Wheatfield won. In addition, the runner up positions will also receive scholarship amounts, with funds raised from past peach queens and local business support. Applications are now available online at www.lewistonkiwanis.org The Niagara County Peach Festival will take place in Lewiston September 11 - 13, 2015.
In order to be eligible for the program, contestants must be female, single, residents of Niagara County and ages 17 - 21 (age 17 by 9/13/15). Events are scheduled throughout the end of July and through the month of August. A full listing of contestant events will be sent to the contestants upon receiving their application. The Peach Queen Program is a community service oriented program for young women with a goal of introducing the importance of community service to the young women while meeting others in a fun setting.
The Peach Queen Committee is currently updating the Peach Queen database and are asking former Peach Queens to send updated contact information to: firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling Jennifer at 940-1063. Contestants with questions and businesses who would like to donate items are also asked to contact the committee by phone or email.
