The CANYS 2013 Winter Conference took place in conjunction with the Business Council of New York State 2013 Legislative Reception. Suzanne was able to meet with Legislators from all over New York State, including our NYS Assemblyman, John Ceretto. Jennifer Pauly, President of the Chamber was glad to send representation stating "With the changes forthcoming in Health Care, it was important that we sent Suzanne to this conference. Speaking with other Chamber Executives and NYS Legislators on updates regarding the NYS Health Exchange helps the Chamber Staff and Board of Directors become proactive in developing strategies to help our members."
Suzanne has been a part of the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce (Business Association, prior to the Chamber formation) since 1995. "With 17 years of experience, I have seen Health Care in NYS make many changes over the years", commented Suzanne. "One of the major topics of discussion was the upcoming changes and benefits of the NYS Health Exchange. There will be many options available to consumers and we are excited to help our community and business members as navigators of this program. Spring of this year, the Chamber staff will be attending many training sessions and seminars to become educated of the systems and procedures. The New York State Exchange website will be live on October 1, 2013 with enrollment beginning January 1, 2014. I also had the opportunity to meet with other Chamber Executives throughout New York State in many brainstorming sessions. I learned new ways of how they connect with their membership and the benefits that they offer. We have already begun to brainstorm and create new programs as well as addition benefit enhancements for our members. We are eager to help our membership grow and become remain actively involved within the community."
