The Historical Association of Lewiston is pleased to present our May program: "Tuesdays with Thom: The Evolution of Artpark's Concerts".  The event will take place at 7:00 PM Thursday, May 24th, 2018 at the Lutheran Church of the Messiah Fellowship Hall, 915 Oneida St., Lewiston, NY.

Thom Jennings will be sharing anecdotes and images from Artpark's popular "Tuesdays in the Park" concert series.  The Tuesday concert series was the brainchild of former Artpark President George Osborne. It began as a small gathering in the parking lot before moving to the amphitheater. In 2002 there was a series billed as the "Free Tuesday Party in the Park," which featured regional acts. On July1 the Tuesdays in the Park series kicked off with a performance from national recording artist Rik Emmett. Over the years, the acts got bigger, and what started as a free concert series became a "soft ticket" series after a historic 2011 Lynyrd Skynyrd concert that backed up traffic for miles.

Thom Jennings is a full-time educator by day and part-time features writer and podcast host. Thom has covered the Tuesdays in the Park concert series for the last decade for the Niagara Gazette, writing both previews and reviews of the concerts. His work has also appeared on national music websites and other regional daily newspapers. Thom once wrote the curriculum for and taught a class on the History of Rock and Roll at the high school level. Thom's weekly music column appears in the Niagara Gazette. Thom has a Master of Arts in History from SUNY Brockport and has attended well over 1000 concerts dating back to 1979.

This community event is free and open to all, refreshments will be served.  It is also our annual meeting.  Hear updates on our association including news about our latest programs and projects.  Dues paying members will also vote for the candidates to fill vacancies on our Board of Trustees.  Come and join us and re-live the Artpark concert experience.
